Isn't a nightmare at all, just a lot of scrolling.

It's worse the more posts there are, so late in the day, especially on a match (or similarly busy) day, it gets to be a pain, but not too much.

Once you've got one thread loaded in the bottom frame, it's easy to read the whole thing without too much scrolling, and post to it, without always having to go back to the top.
