it's a racist state, in comparison with Western European states,

but not in comparison with Iran. Israel was the result of a sort of imperialism by proxy - militarily strong countries decide to eject a weaker people from their homeland and found a new state on behalf of what was in effect a strong lobby group. A terrible error of judgement, in hindsight, but in reality less brutal than many other imperialist adventures down the centuries, I suppose.
