our defence would have been just as rubbish with him last year

if not more. The defence's problem was less that we got rid of Malky but that we didn't at the same time get rid of Flem & Holt. And what our defence REALLY needed last year was a proper midfield in front of it who were prepared to cover back and put some work in rather than one including the likes of Bentley & Hucks.
