This valuation is valid now freom the clubs perspective while he is still scoring goals, we gain promotion and he stays fit.

In a couple of weeks time, the goals may dry up, the hamstrings give out or he decides he wants to leave....that would then make the ?8m (if reliable) bid from Wigan seem to good to refuse.

All in all I hope he stays, stays fit and keeps scoring but as a player his real valuation is probably near ?6/7m, that the scousers payed for Crouch (Ashton being the better player but far less experience in the Prem than Crouch)

Well done the board in at least trying to hold on to Ashton for the time being, previous encumbants would have snatched Wigans hand off at that price *cough Chase cough*
