exceptional is over-egging more than a bit imo

after all if he can sign a defender for a reported ?1m only to send him back to the club he signed him from after only playing him in a handful of games, that's hardly exceptional management in my book

however, i did like him as Ireland manager and feel he never got the credit he deserved there, what with all the bollocks with Roy Keane spitting his dummy (he should never have played for Ireland again), i think he did a decent enough job at Sunderland too
