whether he actually had any better offers while he was frozen out here?

Or is it possible that he'd have had to take a pay cut to leave, and didn't want to?

After all, I don't remember Winston Bogarde moaning much when he was frozen out at Chelsea for years, but I don't remember that many articles praising his attitude.
