Any mature barstaff in? Got a question

Seeing Hoofin talking about being old at 27 below put me in the mind of something. I turned down an invitation to a staggy recently, as I didn't fancy my chances of staying upright for more than an hour. I found out afterwards that the night had gone on until 4am., and that this is considered quite normal nowadays, what with the licencing laws etc.

Now: I used to mop it up a bit, in my youth, but even then I'd have struggled to keep going until 4am. So, mature barstaff: are these kids drinking more slowly than we did, or were we old 'uns just unable to take our ale?
