Having investigated travel costs, the earliest I could come to Lausanne would be the 2nd April.

I understand that you also have constraints in terms of time-scale and budget for this recruitment so maybe a phone interview would be a good alternative to a preliminary face-to-face meeting.

I have spoken to [my current manager] and I'm fairly confident that the urgency of this situation would not be an insurmountable problem.
