Was it Di that started all this en masse grieving for people that one has never even met?

I just don't get it.

I lost my Dad a couple of years ago, very quickly from diagnosis to death and it was s**t and rubbish and I think about him every day, so I feel grief - but all this collective outpouring of griefgush for celebs - I don't understand.
