and the following factors undermine your assumption of my stupidity:

of the bottom 8 clubs we have the MOST games against top-8 opposition - and three of them are away (likely result = 0 points from those 4 games)

of the bottom 8 clubs we have the LEAST games against fellow strugglers - meaning we only have 2 chances to materially improve our position (and one of those occasions is when it could be too late).

I assume will will lose on Saturday, but wins for Soton and Barnsley would harm us even more (while defeats would maintain the status quo).
