To be honest that sounds like a good idea for a course

It's a mistake, I think, to assume that all qualifications must be vocational. Employers like them because they much prefer a regimented work-force that can't think for themselves - at least not outside the confines of their job.

When I was at school (20+ years ago), we were taught plenty of facts (for want of a better word), but little in the way of creative application of those facts & figures.

A friend of mine once said that one only needs to learn two subjects: maths and philisophy - maths because it is the basis of science and philosophy because it is the basis of, well, critical thinking.
