that's what you need.

Listening to the beckham interview last night i wasn't surprised that we lost by the biggest margin for a quarter of a century. He didn't give a s**t that we had lost, all he was interested in was going out on the lash with the lads in copenhagen. 'well, you know, it's not the end of the world, you know. it was just a friendly, you know, and, you know, we'll perform when it counts, you know.' Neville and James were a bit more morose about the whole thing, but they're s**t so it hardly helps things.

Every player who plays for england should play their heart out BECAUSE it's england. If all they are worried about is the glory of winning the world cup, they won't ever win it. They need that extra drive that playing for your country should give you. Too many senior players like beckham and owen are blas? about friendlies (probably because by playing a different team in each half sven has told them that they are meaningless).

We need to use friendlies to get the young players integrated in the squad. What better opportunity for greeno to play than last night? Why bother playing Owen when he's a known quantity and when he's suspended for the next match? Why play Joe Cole for the whole 90 minutes and bring on hargreaves rather than giving Carrick or SWP a chance? And if these players weren't to be given a chance, why include them in the squad rather than downing who could actually give us some width on the left?

I'm bloody fuming today. Michael Vaughan wouldn't put on a display like that, even in a friendly.
