I absolutely agree if it makes us hang on to many of the high wage earners then it changes very little.
We will just be getting further in debt.
In a funny kind of way I think the fans will get behind a team of "our" players even if they are young prospects and bosmans
Selling players such as Marshal and Clingan would free up some of the wage bill and also raise some transfer funds.
Its taken Southampton a while for their kids to gel but you can see the signs with their recent results that maybe they are turning the corner.
Loan players are useful but they are not the long term answer if you have any ambitions.
Infact overpaid permanent players are not always the answer either.
We need some hunger/passion at the club.
But we also need a reasonable wage structure if we are to avoid admin.
The one positive of relegation may be that Delia will sell to Peter Cullum.
