I think they will look to sell/release all the big earners so the can reset the wage structure at the club.
They have to build with a combination of youth and free agent players with a few lower league players thrown in.
It might actually be a good thing overall as a lot of even medium sized clubs will increase their wage bill while they have less income form advertising and the overall effects of the economic situation.
I also think there will be a lot of overpaid veteran free agents on the market this year as many teams will turn to the cheaper youth options.
Of the players we release, how many will make more money than they do now?
Very few IMHO which kind of proves we overpaid for talent.
Thats not always the managers fault as a wage structure at the club often dictates the negotiations.
If a player wants to sign for Preston/Blackpool and the best player at the club is making 4000 a week then if he is an average player in the overall squad he knows he should command 3000 at most
If Hucks is making 9-10K then obviously Fozzy, Doc and Cureton are wanting to make at least 7-8K
All players who would never get that at most other clubs.
