until recently I had a Merc (only a fairly basic one). Mr C has a megane - both were the same age and about same mileage (we both clock up close to 20k a year). Mine was one huge bill after the other, horrendous clanking noises, and when I wasn't working decided to sell it as it was no logner worth as much as I needed to pay to make it better. Meanwhile the megane goes on and on.
Moral of this tale - my car snobbery has gone out of the window.
