He was instrumental in turning us round last season and was a better captain than Shackell

However. When the rumours that Charlton were sniffing came out and he only signed a one year deal he should have been stripped of the captaincy for the example that set.

He said at the time that it would keep him on his toes or something which was blatant spin when in fact what it meant was "If things aren't going well here I'll f**k off at Christmas."

The fact he/we were so poor led to no offers at that time, he has had a few decent games for us since then this season. Notably against Preston if memory serves.

Other than that he is slow to get back and defend and ineffectual going forward. He is like a slower, crappier Clingan. They are too similar in style to play alongside each other. A lot of our goals against have come from opposition midfielders arriving into our area with little or no resistance, either that or they have time and space to play between our lines seemingly always having a man over.

Good riddance to him, there are other issues there witness the on field bollocking he got a couple of times from our defence on Sat.

Squad player at Preston and no more than that. Give me Rusty any day. He will try and try and is a different type of player that compliments Clingan sitting deep more.
