The problem I've seen with all of our full backs this year has been...

Closing down wingers/blocking crosses.

I'd say from a defensive point of view, full-backs have 2 main responsibilities:

1) Stopping crosses getting into the box.
2) Tucking in when the ball is on the other side of the pitch to support the CBs.

We seem to be great at point 2, which is fair enough because the main danger is immediately infront of the goal. But we seem to have forgotten point 1 because Semi and others are so reluctant to get close to their wingers and block that cross.

Stop the ball getting into the box = limit the danger greatly.
