I was saying, because you bid with 2 seconds to go

instead of 2 days to go, you stop the seller logging in wondering what your max bid is, hence them topping up the current bid 20p at a time testing whether you entered a higher bid than the current price

If you're asking "what if they win their own auction by accident doing this"

Then the answer usually in my experience is they send you a second chance offer, claiming the original winning bidder has been wasting their time
