Say, right, you bid on something that's got a starting price of ?5, and you put in your maximum of ?15.

Now say the end of the auction is coming up and no-one else has bid. The seller doesn't fancy letting the thing go for ?5 so he gets his mate to put in some speculative bids to bump the price up so something more palatable - eBay automatically bids for you up to ?15.

Isn't allowed, but it happens.

If you use bidnapper, you're safe from that sort of naughtyness.
