If you knew the A17 as well as I do (I barely even bother opening my eyes these days)

you'd know that particular few yards of road has a central reservation, so the traffic coming the other way isn't a problem.

However, right after the sign is a slight right hand bend, so it's hands to the wheel sharpish in order to not drive off the road.
