I'm not awfully keen on the fact that medics now often arrive from non-science backgrounds (there was a case study of two journos retraining at UEA) - but who are more focused on the empathy/understanding side. I'm quite happy to have a bastard of a doctor as long as he knows my pancreas from my pelvis.
