as I skim read it

I missed the russian connection and just saw a poor small child called Vera. Which I, wrongly, assumed to be this year's version of the trend to call your children after victorian servants, and that we had now moved to 1950's cleaning ladies.
I know, patronising, condescending and snobbish.
