As I was being facetious, I have no idea whether my point is true or not - just something that everyone seems to believe. Anyway, the oil companies hedge against exchange rate fluctuations so crude oil price fluctuations shouldn't affect the price at the pump as much. Mind in the current general trading climate hedging strategies may not be entirely effective.
