...when worthy broke up what had been a successful and pretty stable team by shoehorning in some of his summer signings. By not giving the promotion team a chance he undermined the spirit of the club and then arsed around trying to find his best team for most of the season.
Ever since that time the team has lacked a solid spine and relatively settled line up, which are essential if your going to succeed. Keep changing managers hardly helps and I think Roeder was generally going in the right direction. He just lacked resources, tact and perhaps motivational skills and got himself sacked.
We are in a worse position this season than we need to be because of Roeder's failure to sign a big striker and a ridiculously unsettled back four. We now have to hope that Gunny et al can sort out both ends before it is too late. I think we will be OK but only just.
