Hi all
Hope all those coming down to St Mary's on Saturday have a pleasant journey down, let's hope our game this year is as exciting as it was last year! ;-)
If you're driving to the game, I'd suggest parking in the town centre and walking to the ground. There are numerous multi storey car parks in the town centre and are relatively cheap - and they are signposted quite well all over town. There are also signposts from the town, towards the ground so the stadium itsself is easy to find (or you could just follow the red and white shirts). The walk from town is around 15 minutes (varying on where you park) and it's an easy, nice walk through parks and by a few houses. Parking near the ground will leave you stuck in traffic after the game and of course the surrounding areas (St Marys, Northam, Kingsland) aren't what you'd call pleasant places!
If you do chose to park in the town centre I'd suggest spending a bit of time in and around the highstreet. There are 3 main shopping complexes (West Quay, Marlands and The Bargate) all within 3 minutes walk of eachother (and around 20minutes walk from the stadium), and Southampton hosts numerous bars and restuarants in the area where you will be welcomed even if wearing colours. You won't have a problem wearing colours around town or near the ground, infact you'll probably find a number of Saints fans to have a chat with before the game. We're a friendly bunch!
I run the forum www.saintsawaydays.co.uk/foro, feel free to join for a bit of light hearted banter and chat!
Enjoy the game,
Smudger
