Doesn't "s**te band" constitute saying their music was s**t?

Although my best mate was sat down by a 45-year-old A&R from Sony or someone and told that he needed to learn how to write nice catchy choruses. Like the Killers.

He then sang a Killers chorus to him, without any backing music. I really wish I'd been there.
