Went a couple of years ago (regular holiday, not diving).

Didn't see a huge amount of building sites, but it could be that they're confined to the edges of the settlement, where we were towards the centre.

Still a little lacking in character, to be honest, but it's nice enough. Armed copper on just about every street corner - didn't know whether to feel reassured, or worried.

Taxi drivers are mental, however it's well documented that all 'gyptians are a bit mental.
