In my opinion, almost all of them are unfortunate, rather than ironic

like the free ride when you already paid. To be ironic, it would have to be the only time you ever paid coincident with the one time the ride were free. But that's just my opinion. I guess it's fair to say that there's a tendency there, but it's incomplete without the detail.
