.... Frustrated and generally depressed about things to come.
I'm not going to rate the players i'll leave that to others I will briefly say how they did
Marshall Poor distribution as ever, made a good save but at other times his positioning was suspect and and flapped a bit.
Berty Oh dear, something's not right, he was awful, just awful, gave donny players far too much room, didn't support Wes/Patty, dithered, was weak, spent his time half heartedly appealing for offside/fouls rather than dealing with the situation, when we had the ball he carried on marking rather than looking fro the ball.
Semi as above
Doc Solid, had a good game, some of his clearances were poor but was a much needed rock in defence.
Grounds Took his free header well for the goal, didn't have much to do but whatever he did have to do he made hard work of.
Hooly Very good on the ball, passing was generally ok, though balls in the air to JC are stupid. Not a left winger which put us under a bit of pressure.
Corft LEGEND, must be offered a new contract, give him the keys to Carrow Road give him whatever he wants but without him we are really sunk. He put in a monumental shift, his balls into the box were ok, he was the only one who battled for ninety and was spitting feathers by the end.
Fozzy Should not be captain, he lost his rag to ref when he should be keeping a cool head, he didn't get stuck in and played a simple sideayds ball than looking for the more probing ball
Clingan Smashing player, great composure on the ball, looks good when he harries as well though he doesn't do this enough.
Rusty Won a few headers but should have been booked, other than that did bugger all and although I never want to see one of our players injured we were much better when he went off.
JC Cannot play at this level for 80 minutes particularly away from home where speed is key. Did the hard work for his gilt edged chance and then snatched at the ball. Can't fault his effort though he tries but it just isn't enough.
Patty Did Ok not his best by any means but he harried and tried to get some forward momentum.
Cort Did well to play for as long as he did, reminds me a bit of Crouch in that he is as good if not better with the ball at his feet rather than in the air, saying that he was strong and won most things that were hoofed to him, needs a fast striker to play with.
Loopy looked drunk, he was sluggish, his first action was to play the ball out of play when in a good position, he was slow and didn't really harry Doncaster, which is a shame as most of the fans I spoke to thought he could do the business.
Doncaster are a crap side trying to play good football (they can't) and should have had the quality really to muller them but we didn't really test the goalie and a draw was the right result imo.
The Keepmoat is nice though the infrastructure in piss poor which for a completely redeveloped area isn't overly good. Approx 2000 of our lot, made noise from start to finish brilliant effort really.
The frustrating thing is that arguably that was our strongest team (ok you may change 1 or 2 players but the essence of the team was there) and Gunny could do nothing. There was a lack of off the ball movement and when Doncaster were in possession there was not enough closing down. We so desperately need a striker and a quality centre half and I doubt we will. The last 10 minutes were really annoying Gunn and the bench were urging the team on but they just passed the ball across the back four.
I really hope we can get someone in by Monday.
We are desperately lacking speed and width at the moment as well (q Huckerby blubs) so my team for the next match would be.
Marshall
Semi Grounds Doc Drury
Croft Clingan Patty Carney
Wes
Cort
I think that's Wes' best position and could work but what do I know?
Oh well blub over
