Just a guess based on prior transfer dealings.

Doncaster is terrible at transfers - we allow players like Chad to leave to a club with money on a free etc

We're probably happy to have his wages off the books and to have recouped some of the original transfer fee - my guess is that the 450k fee was 300k plus Spiller and Martin's loan deal so we've got our money back.
