...they'd over booked the hotel (Sheridan) and were sending everyone over the road to somewhere that was a little bit more basic...the guy behind the reception counter did the classic "I have an auntie in Birmingham, do you know her?" routine - we didn't, natch, but he stuck us in a top floor suite over looking Central Park...
