try this

yeah u would loose whats on the hdd

before u do that try this i assume u are using xp

start to boot once u see the windows logo hold the power switch down so it turns off. then turn back on when it starts to boot it should come up and say windows dd not boot properly on a black screen and give options one should be use last know good configuration that worked try that

if that dont work only option is to reinstall but u will loose stuff

if u do this put the disk in as u turn on and it will ask to boot from disk
