I work in a bank with traders and I think some of them are completely able to delude themselves that everything is great with the world when markets are rising and that the markets will continue to rise for ever. They wilfully ignore any thoughts that what they're doing might contain more risk than the models tell them and that there may be something they aren't taking into account.
