if all he wanted was to be at a 'nearly Premier League' club i reckon he could've made some noises about staying at Reading to fight for his place and got a new contract with them

iirc he said all sorts of things about us being a big club when he first arrived, perhaps he'll fancy the chance of getting us up somewhere near where we 'belong', it'd be great for his ego if he could
