For anyone taking the train to Liverpool St, your best bet will be Central Line to Holborn, then change to the Piccadilly Line either direct to Hammersmith or change again at Earls Court to District Line, to Putney Bridge. The latter is slightly easier for the away end but in truth either will do. Plenty of pubs all over the place, needless to say...
