Roeder's future

I don't subscribe to the view that if you give a bad manager long enough in a job he turns into a good one. That's why managers like Martin O'Neil succeed wherever they manage i.e. because they're a good manager not because they're given long enough. Roeder's problem is that his arrogance led him to state at the start of the season that his crop of players, albeit most of them loans, were much stronger than last season and therefore he's failing miserably. If this is the case then it's not a question of 'can we afford to sack him' it's 'can we afford not to'. It also leaves a huge question mark over the ability of the Board to be capable of selecting the right man for the job and their record is little short of pathetic. Not only that, but once they've made their poor decision they seem to give the manager carte blanche to do as he sees fit without any questions being asked. Therefore we employ shoddy manager after shoddy manager each lurching off in their own direction and the nett effect is continual failure.
