I went to Chesterfield v Mansfield yesterday

Not a bad game, very little skill and lots of hard work. That lad Jamie Ward that I keep banging on about was the best player on the pitch, skilful, fast and has a wicked shot. Chesterfield won 3-1 for anyone that cares.

The day was marred by violence and jobs-worth stewards. An out of town pub opened at 9 am allowing both home and away fans in, the police knew this but decided not to police that district and at 11am it kicked off 2 pitched battles 1 mile apart involving c.a. 2-300 people, these raged for about 10 minutes before any police were on the scene, the aforementioned pub got a going over as did several cars - not good. There was a small amount of trouble in the town centre but nothing of note.

The stewards refused to get of the way of littlys at the front and insisted on popping all the inflatables before the match, just irritating.

The say was ruined for me by the morons around me (maybe I just attract them or maybe the tossers weren't restricted to where i was - i don't know) a few were hurling coins at the Mansfield Goalkeeper (none hit luckily), boys aged around 8-10 decided they wanted to run to the front and spit at him whenever he came to collect the ball and it seems racism is still tolerated at the ground as a number of people were hurling abuse at coloured players. I wanted to say something but the guy i was stood with said he didn't recommend it. Bad times

How did we play yesterday?
