User Posted Link - stanchion to me is the bit starting at the back corner of where the post & bar meet and going diagonally to the back of the goal, holding the net back. Not sure what you mean otherwise ...

I remember in WC USA, I think, they had some wizzy bendy bars that stuck out from the back of the post/bar for miles - not sure what they were called though ...
