The book ended in more or less the same way.
Dissapointing? Mmm... maybe.
Depends on how you interpret it though, duntut?
There Will Be Blood's ending is also a bit strange... but considering the film is all about money/ capitalism vs religion, it ties in well (and also shows how DDL's character has gone a teeny, weeny bit mental through the years).
