I was on a commuter flight from Philadelphia to Dallas/Fort Worth in the summer of 2002.

I was left in open-mouthed amazement at the casual attitude to the unattended bags the Philadelphia airport. We were waiting at our gate for boarding, and a business woman with big hair and apower suit left her two cases by her chair while she went to get a coffee. There was an armed guard just 3 or 4 yards away who didn't bat an eyelid, and I was sat there watching her dawdle down the corridor in *amazement*.

I still can't really get my head around it. I get twitchy about unattended bags at the best of times ...
