I know exactly how you feel

I stopped going in protest at paying a significant part of my income to watch Andy Hughes - but even though he's long gone I can't muster the enthusiasm for the day out any more. In fact it's been nice having a few quid spare. I've been buying stuff. Nice.

The last game I went to - and it was early last season - me and my brother sat, chins in palms, elbows on knees, for about an hour before he said to me "Why do we bother? This is so very dull". I began to argue before I realised he was right. Shuffle the ball this way a bit, shuffle it that way a bit. Both teams.

Thing is, if there was anything to get excited about (and in the case of that game, it was Youtube Brellier we'd gone to see), it'd have been different. Had Ched been ours, or if Martin had continued his early promise, then I guess we'd probably still be working out in advance which games we could go to - but I struggle to be excited about much anything.

OK so this is probably my fault alone. But when Briz scored yesterday i was in the chatty, doing flypasts on Worzel's house in Santiago on Google earth and having a chuckle - and I found that realising we were a goal down didn't hurt as much as it usually does. It was, Oh, There Goes Another One. More gloom.

It's not simply that we should all grit our teeth through the bad times. These times are as bad as anything I can recall, and I've been paying attention since 1970. It's that there's so little to be excited about, so little to be proud of. There's not much Norwich City about the current Norwich City. I do believe that this has a lot to do with Glenn, but I accept that it's not all down to him and that my disquiet may be due to the fact that I just don't like or rate the guy.

If that makes me a bad fan, so be it, and f**k off. If the club went bust tomorrow I wouldn't have another. I'd support FC Norwich City 2008, or whatever grew out of the ashes.
