do you put potatoes in your tomato soup?

because my wife thinks you should, whereas I say you shouldn't. Tomato soup should be just made with tomatoes plus your usual flavouring veg (celery, onion, maybe a carrot). Potato is about thickness and texture - if you have the right amound of tomatoes (with a good amount of flesh), you don't need potatoes at all. Having said that, I'm thinking about putting some chervil roots in a soup at the weekend. But it won't be tomato soup.
