There's a recursive argument here. We're told that we should have stuck with someone like Chris Martin because he's performing so well at Luton; yet he is a loan player at Luton, so following our loanees don't care plot, he can't possibly be playing well. And yet I remember at Norwich he turned into a lazy arrogant so and so simply because he was here on a long-term permanent deal.

I actually think the answer is total abolition of the loan system. Then everyone is back to working out who is really right for their club and probably brings player fees down to a sensible and realistic level. For example Bertrand would probably be shipped out permanently by Chelsea for a sensible fee. If he turns out to be brilliant, they can BUY him back. And the market opens up across the divisions.

Meanwhile, with no money to pay the inflated prices, this is what we're all stuck with.
