the transfer budget
In case this hasn't been pointed out our transfer budget when publicised ALWAYS has to include wages for players bought in.
Therefore if we sign someone on ?10k a week that's ?520,000 on top of the initial fee that has to come out of the 'transfer budget' for the first year.
So when talking about how much cash we have spent lets not forget that each player we bring in is probably taking half a million quid at least out of the transfer budget before we factor in transfer and signing on fee's etc etc.
Therefore we've probably spent near ?5 million in this way this summer with the 6 players bought in (anyone know what the 'average' wage a city is these days?)
Of course we will of saved some cash to from the guys that left, not much from mullers though as he was 'released' so we probably had to pay up a decent chunk of his remaining contract.
Helveg and Johnson must have been on a fair whack though which should of freed up some funds.
I'm not saying we've spent more than perhaps was originally reported as being available, just that when the club say 'transfer budget' it doesn?t just mean Fee's as some of us fans think it does. So we probably have spent a pretty damn big chunk of it.
