A common misconception
is that if we pay less wages our side will be rubbish. That is not the case.
There are plenty of examples of sides paying much less than us in wages who perform better; and similarly there are plenty of example of big wage bills failing to be matched by results (Newcastle & Tottingham this season; Wet Spam in 06-07).
If an agent believes that NCFC will pony up high wages then that is what he (and others like him) will demand; once the precedent has been set it is difficult to get past it.
