My thought on that

I think it is because many people don't know a lot of the songs now and so it's the same ones sung all the time. I think the ones who do know them just don't bother because they know what will happen to it within ten seconds. certainly those I sit with who are compartively 'old school' (for want of better phrase) though certainly not old, just old enough to have memories of much better these songs used to sound sung properly do feel this way.
