I Really Hope This Isn't True...
From BBC Football Gossip-
"Several Sheffield United players are considering suing West Ham for loss of earnings over the Tevez affair. (Daily Mail)"
FFS, whats next? The whole case seems to be based on the case that, if Tevez hadn't been playing for West Ham, Sheff Utd would have stayed up and West Ham would have gone down.
Sorry, but there isn't a person, court, or authority in the land who ocan seriously claim that as fact, let alone prove it. West Ham might still have won those games without Tevez, whilst Sheff United certainly wouldn't have had any different results regardless of whether he was playing for WHU or not.
I wonder on what case or precedent the Sheffield players are going to base their case on? "M'lud, if Tevez hadn't played, we would have stayed up, and I would have had a 40% increase in my contract, not a 25% deductionb following relegation, I therefore claim that money to be backdated and paid to me". You know, ridiculous as it looks, I rather think they will!
And Colin bloody Wanker, how the Palace fans must be proud and love their manager, he's sticking his end in and talking about Sheff Utd as well, "we" would have done this, "we" would have achieved that, "we" would now be an established Prem club and "I would still be Manager".
Its gone way beyond the playground now and is getting just plain stupid and greedy. A huge precedent will be set if this goes all the way, clubs that are relegated because of goals that weren't, clubs going down because their star player was injured and missed some games-what will they do, sue the club or player that was involved in that for "loss of earnings"?
Football will be full of hypothetical situations and possibilities that bear no resemblance to games played. Maybe we can sue some of the bunch that capitulated against Fulham-loss of earning for the club because of their ineptitude on the day?
Ridiculous. The football authorities would do better to make sure the transfer and player registration rules are set in stone and that NO move goes through until all aspects of that part of the deal are completed-if its straight forward, it shouldn't take long anyway.
