I bring some pearl barley to the boil - probably about 4oz and enough water to cover. Then drain that and put as much fresh water in as you like, and let it simmer for ages til you've got some nice barleyish looking water.
Then I slice up some lemons and squeeze the jice of one or two more (use unwaxed if you can) and strain the water over. Cool as required.
It's all abit haphazard but I think it tastes nice. Some people sweeten it.
