EDP Front page & Story.......
Is disgraceful sensationalist journalism which indicates the state of the relationship between Archant and the club and the patheticly low standard of journalism which is par for the course in the EDP/NEN.
If you actually read into the article our financial situation is getting better:-
'Mr Munby said the club had been on track to move from loss-making to profit-making in the near future, and said the absence of the Turners' cash meant the situation was more likely to be "neutral", which he said was "still no bad thing in football".'
This is an improvement, no?
Essentially the situation hasn't changed they have been looking for potential investors for some time which has always included selling to new owners if they meet the right criteria. Cullums offer was impractical and (as Neil Doncaster would no doubt say) unhelpful. SO to say "City for Sale." as if it is being hawked around to all and sundry is at best misleading.
We have had a (relative) slight setback, as Firstnews correctly points out, of the interest on a ?1.5m loan which hopefully will be sorted when new investors come on board.
Peter Cullum didn't simply offer to give the club ?20m, as a lot of people now choose to believe, he wanted complete control (i.e. all the shares for free) for giving this amount to the transfer budget, this is unfair and unworkable and the club was right to reject this approach. How they handled that and any negotiations that could/should have happened after that is a moot point for now unless he comes back in. (Which I hope he does!)
In short - don't panic it's nowhere near as bad as the bastards at Archant are trying to make out.
