is this loan business a huge gamble?

if we don't do well this season, we'll have three players and no money. It seems like a 'go for broke' strategy to me (although I've no idea of the difference of cost between a loanee and a purchasee). I suppose we'll have options to buy some of our players (like was mentioned with Kennedy).
